20 years old and breaking out?
June 28th, 2011Question: 20 years old and breaking out?
I’ve never had much of a problem with acne. There were times in high school when I would break out with a few pimples but nothing too major. I usually have to deal with one or two small pimples each now and then. But a couple of days ago I woke up with some really painful pimples! My face looks like a connect the dots game! I don’t know how this happened but they need to go away fast as I have auditions to go to on Monday! They are nearly cystic.. huge, red and PAINFUL! Does anybody have any good home remedies? I’d rather not douse myself with lots of chemicals that would be harmful to my skin.
HAHA! I’m absolutely not pregnant. You know… unless I’m 7 months pregnant, haven’t missed a period and am not showing at all! I appreciate the advice though!
And I use proactive and usually have no problem with zits except for that time of the month.
I WAS off of birth control for a month and got back on it a week or so ago… so that might have something to do with it. My hormones are all messed up. What I really need though, is to know just swift tricks that you guys have found to effective.

I think the best is go to the doctor or chemist and get some acne creams. They might get a lil better b4 monday. Good luck
i love clinique. anything by them is made by a determalogist. when i was pregnant my skin was out of control. take a pee stick test! and stress doesn’t help… guess i shouldn’t have told you to get a pee stick!!

good luck
Well, the good news is you have several options:
Go to Target, Walgreen’s, CVS, etc. And get the “Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit”. It comes in a silver box and is about $20. You will want to wash your face with the cleanser in the shower so the steam will open up the pores. Then, apply the moisturizer and let it dry for about 30 seconds. Next is the most important step and your secret weapon: the spot treatment! Just apply it to wherever the pimples are 1-3 times a day. In your case, I would bump it up to three. The system does work incredibly fast and you WILL see improvement by Monday!
Another option for you (if you’re willing to shell out a little more cash) is to go to a dermatologist. They will give you a little shot wherever the blemishes are and they will go away instantly. I personally have never had that done, but for more cystic acne that might be a good option.
A natural option that’s great for a spot treatment is tea tree oil. I used that all the time when I was going to Aveda! Lavender oil can also reduce any redness. If it is a super concentrated formula, make sure to dilute it with water.
I ALSO found this link to an “overnight zit zapper” recipe that you might like. http://leonsbeautytipsandsecrets.com/instant-zit-zapper/
So, in conclusion:
- I can’t recommend the Clean & Clear system enough! (Honestly.)
- Drink A LOT of water! This will flush out the toxins and impurities.
- Place a hot towel over your face to help open up the pores.
- Make sure you remove any and ALL traces of makeup before you go to bed.
- For the love of God, do NOT try Proactiv!!!! It will dry your skin out like no tomorrow!!! And it will make the breakouts 100X worse!!!
Keep me updated!

Hi there!
There could be several reasons as to why you are breaking out.
However, I wanted to share a product that we use in our home.
It’s by Mary Kay– Acne Treatment Gel. $7.00
I am a MK consultant and wanted to give you my site that you can look it up yourself. It’s a great product and I love how it does not leave your face dry or flaky after its use. Also, most of my customers say that they can tell the difference within 2-3 days. It’s just a “dot on the area” and go. You don’t have to put it all over your face.
