I swear I never had acne until the very end of my sophomore year of high school, but then it hit me bad. The downsides to being a late bloomer? Anyway, I have what is called nodular acne as well as the regular stuff. I hope you don’t have it, it’s terrible. Nodular acne is a few, firm, red bumps, larger than normal acne that do not have puss, they are under the skin, last for over a week, and they scar, badly. The only way to get rid of nodular acne is to grow out of it, or do what I am doing and speak to a dermatologist. They are amazing. Truly.
If you’re lucky and just have the normal white head acne with minor scarring, then a decent acne fighting system should do the trick. I use neutrogena’s “No Stress” acne system, which is seriously one of the superior ones I’ve come by. I’ve also used Clean and Clear, generic Proactive, and numerous others, but neutrogena seems to work the best for me. As with any acne medicine, there was a tiny dryness, but not much. That combined with a birth control pill is enough to keep my regular acne absolutely under control.
I also use neutrogena’s concealer that is designed for acne prone skin, and I’ve never had a complaint. It is sheer and natural and does enough covering for me. The meds I am on now to get rid of the nodular acne are severely drying on my skin, so the lotion I use now is called “Cetaphil Daily Advance” and is sold in Kroger and Walmart by the shampoo and body care section. It is illusion for dry skin, however, this and the similar cleanser are not prefabricated to fight acne.
Someone has come out with a body wash for acne skin, I just can’t remember who, hopefully someone else will know, but a lot of brands do now.
Basically, keep your face clean and your hands off it, drink lots of water to stay hydrated (it works), try not to pastry on your makeup as that will just clog your pores more, and if you still are not happy with your skin, go find a dermatologist.
Good luck dear, acne is one of the worst hits you can take to self esteem I feel. Good luck again, and now I’m going to bed (lol stated that last question too…)

clinique foundations are great.
superfit is great for a natural matte foundation that lasts through EVERYTHING,
even better covers my scars pretty good, it’s buildable and looks like your actual skin (not matte, you need to touch up for oil control),
and the clarifying foundation has acne medication and doesn’t feel heavy but clears your skin up while covering a few* of the blemishes (i own the powder version but i heard good things about the liquid.)
i happened to get a PERFECT shade with even better foundation, & it’s the most natural thing ever. however, i’m used to being totally matte & shine free, and though i think a little bit of shine is actually a step up from being all powdery, i’m not sure how it lasts through school.
i love olay UV cream SPF 15 UVA/UVB for sensitive skin during the day, and the acne.org moisturizer from danielkern.com (acne.org’s store website) for night.
i use an acne body wash (not sure if it’s actually working, i’m using neutrogena pink grapefruit body clear acne scrub/wash) and then a body acne spray. nature’s cure is alright, and clinique’s body acne spray i think is pretty good. clinique also has an acne solutions cleansing bar for the face/body if you’re interested. however, pretty soon i’m going to switch completely to the acne.org body acne regimen for light acne and the clear skin regimen for your face (cleanser, treatment, olay moisturizer for day & cleanser, treatment, and acne.org moisturizer for night.)
i’m also on an antibiotic for acne that was prescribed by my family doctor.
