Acne is a tough problem. It is great that you went to the doctor but if the doctor is not a dermatologist I would find one and talk with him. Also, if one medication doesn’t work for you don’t give up. There are a lot of different acne medications on the market and keep trying until you find the one that works for you. People do tend to look at acne on others, but I don’t think they realize how painful acne can really be. Especially if you have it on your back and shoulders and someone comes up and slaps you on the back! The antibotics in the Tetracycline family work very well on acne. There is a whole family of them so if one doesn’t work, try another. They work best with an acne cream and a good cleansing routine.

Throughout my ninth and tenth grade years, I had fairly bad acne. I found that Differen Gel works incredibly well (Ha ha ha, that rhymes). Follow directions and combined its use with Neutrogena’s “acne prone face wash” for the shower. If the doctor will prescribe you it, take Doxycycline (it’s a mild surface based bactria deterrent, comes in a pill form). Rotate you pillow sheet every night and try not to touch your face. Good Luck.

I had the same problem and honestly there is no fast way to get rid of acne. I had them since I was 12 and they lasted about 4 years. I tried everything possible. The dermetologist just made my acne worse so I shopped around and tried to find something that works for me.

It really depends on your skin type. I used to use Murad and that worked for a while but then my skin started to get used to it so I had to switch. You can try Neutrogena Skin ID since it asks specific questions about your type of acne. For your body, I’d recommend a body scrub such as St. Ives Body Polish w/ Oatmeal & Shea Butter. (These are just things that I use so if they don’t work for you just shop around)

Also your diet is very important. What you eat effects your skin. You should eat fruits and vegetables daily (ex: grapes with lunch and spinach with dinner) and take vitamins. Fast foods are bad but they’re also very hard to give up so try to eat them as little as possible. I eat them once a week at most and that seems to be working for me. Try to drink at least 2 bottles of water a day too instead of soda or drinks that have high fructose.

The most important of all is not picking at your acne! Believe me, I know it’s tempting but it spreads bacteria and makes it worse. If you must pop a pimple wash your face first then use a q-tip to squeeze it. Then use a spot treatment. I highly recommend Clean and Clear spot treatment since it gets rid of the spot by the next day. Vitamin E works wonders for your skin too. Get the ones they sell in capsules and use one at night to help smooth out your skin.

Most important of all is to be patient. Shop around and see what would be right for you.
