Can the baby acne appears on the body and the head and not just the face?
March 27th, 2009Question: Can the baby acne appears on the body and the head and not just the face? My daughter is nearly a month old, and began to get in 3 weeks. but it’s head under his hair, and his upper chest, gets a bath three times a week, as it is supposed to be and we have not been playing with acne, as we supposed, but I’m not sure if the rest is baby acne or what. That sounds a tiny wider than anything my daughter has had. In fact, I would be out any change of lotions / soaps you are using and see if it helps.

Yeah I agree with above; that doesn’t sound normal. Try a different brand baby wash and if you use scented lotions for you, stop. Something like this happened with my son and it turns out my mom’s scented body lotion was irritating him. As soon as she left (she visits from out of state), he cleared up within a week.
It could happen but not very common. Set her up and appt with her peds and see if maybe she is having an allergic reaction to something. Most parents use the same soap for hair and body on baby but are you using two different things cause it could be the shampoo if it is only in those areas you know cause the shampoo will run down a lil when you wash and rinse baby’s hair. If it seems like it is irritating her or painful then I would set up an appt any way to see if they have something that could help her feel better.
Yes, it is completely normal baby acne. My daughter had it all over her body including her face. It cleared up within her first month. DO NOT put anything on it, don’t try to pop it or anything like that. Lotions and creams are too harsh for a newborns skin. It will go away on it’s own, and don’t worry, your baby is in no discomfort. It doesn’t affect babies at all, it just looks bad.
