January 4th, 2012Question:? I can help please with my dad who has a virus called “herpes” and want to help As? I’m starting from the beginning …. My pap? I was sick of Doctors & Surgeons was told he would die and then? He wants to Germany for help and thnx god the Doctors & Surgeons, stated something else that is not going to die and then get sick? from a virus called “Herpes” was new to all my family that sat? what is that and showed us? a place in the arm as close to the chest was red … pens? that’s nothing to scare some, but then? l told us that in that place where the red and into the back of her as something burning? and? l do not touch it hurts as much as each 1 min. or 2 burn something so hard and burning on the inside than it has for three weeks and perhaps remains the same and I remember to start? on his lips as acne? and then in your body (under the arm and once in the chest) I searched on Google for something they state is genital or has to do with pain, but really none of your quiz? not the ‘Herpes’? qui? n knows? but from this side image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpes_simplex where est? your mouth your acne? or something as well? my pap? has very … I want to answer this question for someone with experience in life? Theres no cure for herpes. There is no treatment, but s? It slows the effects. ? L is probably cheating?’m Your mam? a. Unless they have it. I do not like? To warts on any part of my body like your dad have: /

This sounds like shingles which can be very, very painful. He should be taking some pain medication regularly. I do not believe this is herpes because herpes does not occur on the trunk of the body – it occurs either at the corner of the mouth or in the genital area. You can go to WebMd.com and type in shingles and read up on how to care for this. It can take weeks for this to clear up and go away. You can also type in “cold sore” which is a form of herpes and read up on how to care for that. Some over the counter Abreva or Herpicin which are both creams will help dry these up and they will go away. These come out during times of stress, illness or exposure to sunlight and a large portion of the population gets these cold sores. And, this cold sore is completely different from the painful rash he has on his body and they need different treatments. It would be my guess that your father is taking an anti-viral (it would have helped if you had posted the name of the med he is taking) which will help shorten the duration of the outbreak but cannot make it go away. His body has to heal itself.
Herpes simplex and Herpes Zoster are two different things. If your Dad wasn’t paying attention to the doctor, and didn’t study books, or pamphlets, or the internet to get more information, it’s time he went back to another doctor. It’s probably too late for the family to get a shot for shingles (herpes zoster), but please ask the doctor whether it will help you.
It sounds like your dad has herpes zoster (google it), better known as shingles. It’s caused by the same herpes virus that causes chicken pox.
After you have chicken pox, that herpes virus can lay dormant in your system for many many years. Once your immune system is down, say because you’re sick from something else or just because you’re getting old, that virus can come back out and cause shingles.
My dad got shingles on his chest when he was sick from cancer. My step-dad got shingles on his face just because he was old. So did my grandma, on her chest. It’s very common. It’s also very painful. It causes a red rash that might blister. It’s just awful and it can linger for several months.
Your dad probably had chicken pox when he was a kid, just like pretty much everyone else. Then, when he got sick, the virus came out and caused this painful problem. This is not the same thing as genital or oral herpes. It is NOT sexually transmitted.
Shingles can, however, be contagious, so anyone who hasn’t had chicken pox or who hasn’t been vaccinated against it should use precautions so they don’t catch the disease from him.
