Could it be baby acne?

I have a 5 week old baby. With in the last two days she has developed this red blotchy rash looking stuff, it has tiny pustules in the center of some of the blotches. It’s happened very swiftly now its on her back, neck, scalp, and face. It looks terrible. It’s very red. I called the physician they stated it was probably baby acne, but I’m concerned that its something more. I am planning to call again on Monday as she doesn’t have a fever, and she’s intake very well I don’t think it’s and emergency. So my question is has anyone else experienced this with baby acne, does it occur very rapidly? Or does it sound like something else?

It sounds exactly like baby acne. If you look up pictures of it, that may help you put your mind at ease. It’s very common and very normal. My daughter was about 5 weeks when she had it and it lasted about a week or so. If she doesn’t seem uncomfortable then there probably is nothing to worry about. Don’t put anything on it and don’t try to pop the “pimples”. If you’re still uneasy, or it gets worse, make an appointment with the doctor. It’s always better to err on the side of cautious.
