Retin A is actually the best topical medicine that he could have put you on. It will take like a month to see your skin get better and your skin will get worse before it gets better. But, the Retin A prevents the formation of the acne and smooths the skin. Other topicals like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid just dry up the already formed pimple.
