Seriously it sounds like you photographer didnt do anything wrong it sounds like your upset with your physical appearance and unless you photo guy was also you hair and make up artist its on you regardless how much u paid him.
Next time read your contract and insure photo retouching / air brushing is included in the photo shoot pricing
I’ll bet you went the cheap way and only paid for a photo shoot.
There isn’t much they can do if your hairstyle wasn’t cooperating, trust me – I have a picture that I think is great if only the wind hadn’t blown a lock of hair across my face.
BUT, even if you have the CD now, there are ways to edit the photos after the fact.
I would contact the photographer and ask about it “I thought you were going to edit the photos so my scars weren’t so visible. I can see them and am not happy, can you retouch them?”
If editing and re-touching was included in your contract, contact the photographer and (politely) ask that these issues be fixed.
If it was not included in your contract, or if you didn’t get a contract, the best you can do is politely ask the photographer to fix these things for you. If she says no, then you’re out of luck.
Also check the rights and ownership of the photos. Perhaps you can fix them yourself, or get a Photoshop-savvy friend to help you.
Did you research the photographer before booking her? Did you look for reviews online and ask her for references? If so, what did previous clients say about her? If not, why didn’t you do any research?
Well the hair problem is really not their fault. Where were your bridal attendants at this time to help you out and let you know. Photographers don’t remark on physical appearance as it would be considered rude and possibly offend you. I would request they be retouched as requested but as long as the quality of the pictures is great and the photographer got the shots you requested there isn’t much you can do.
You need to talk to the photographer first and see if they can help. It just takes a little editing. If you are not satisfied, you have the option to sue the photographer. I’m sorry your pictures didn’t turn out as well as you hoped. Good luck!
A photographer can’t fix your hair or clear up your skin. These are things a hair and makeup team could have helped with. You could see about more editing on the photos, but outside of that, it just sounds like you weren’t happy with your appearance on your wedding day. I know the day goes by fast, but with camera clicks all day, it’s a good idea to stop to look in a mirror from time to time.
Calm down. The pictures on the CD are usually the proofs and are never retouched. Retouching is expensive and a photographer usually only does that for the pictures you select for your album. The proofs will just be the raw form. When you pick out what pictures you are going to want, talk with your photographer about the retouching you can expect. They take out the exit signs and all that for the pictures in your album and if you are getting a larger bridal portrait but not just for all the raw pictures.
But sweetie if you have acne scars you do. That’s what you look like. A camera captures the moment but it’s not going to make you look like a completely different person. 10 years from now you are going to look back on your pictures now and think they look amazing. That happens as you get older–pictures you hated before now look great. What you should be judging the photos on is the quality of the pictures–not the subject. Is the lighting right? Is the dress laying right? Good angles? That’s the things the photographer can control.
Kim is incorrect – you do not have the option of suing your photographer because scars are visible or hair was across your face. My partner is in the wedding business also and believe me, everyone in this line of work has iron-clad contracts to prevent themselves from being sued.
The first thing you should do is carefully check your contract – if it does say photoshopping is included, then how much photoshopping?? Perhaps your photographer has already altered colours etc and thus fufills her contract. Next, you need to speak to your photographer – this business is all about word-of-mouth so she should be eager to keep you happy – especially if you paid a lot of money.
Finally – and this is VERY VERY important – how many photographs were you sent? Because I know most photographers take like 200 photos on your wedding day and then you pick like 30 or 40 to go into your wedding album. If this is the case with your photos, then your photographer probably hasn’t retouched them at all yet!! Obviously she’s not going to re-edit 200 photographs when you’re only going to pick 30! If she said she will retouch them, then she will probably do that with your final choice of images.
Please don’t get upset – speak to your photographer and I’m sure you’ll be able to sort this out.
The hair problem is not the photograpers fault but most photographers will say something if it doesnt look right. If she said she would edited the scars and didnt, call her and ask why and ask if she will. Read over any contracts that you signed with the photographer and make sure that you paid for that service. Its not wrong that you want them perfect but if theres not a whole lot you can do now. Sorry.
Tell the photographer that you are unhappy with the quality of the pictures and you would like them edited again.
However, she may not be skilled enough with Photoshop to get them to the quality level you want. You may have to pay a Photoshop artist to fix them.
BTW… I had one bridal photo that I really liked, but my forehead was noticeably tense because the sun was bright and my contacts were bothering me. It was also really humid, and I had some straggly hairs in my face. My photographer sent the photo out to a Photoshop artist friend, and they fixed it right up. well you should have checked you hair before pictures for one. you can edit your pictures yourself if you want. Nothing is wrong with wanting them to be perfect but there is nothing other than doing the editing yourself that can be done.
First of all, did you check to see if the wedding photos on the CD are the final ones? Maybe the photographer hasn’t had a chance to touch them up yet.
When we got our family photo done by a professional photographer he sent it away to the editing place before it got sent on to us and there were some serious editing mistakes plainly visible in the photo. We sent it back. They could see the mistakes right away (I mean our skin was 3 different shades on our face/neck/hands) and they got another one done, same editing company, wrong thing to do, because it came back again with huge mistakes. The photographer’s studio/staff did not really check the portrait before giving it to us the second time and when we went back we were livid. The discolorations/mistakes were obvious.Again, they recognized them immediately and apologized, handled the editing themselves this time instead of sending it back to that company or whatever, and framed it for us for no charge. It same back the third time, a charm.

Look carefully at your contract. Does it say you can get a refund if you are unhappy with your pictures? Does it say that things like stray hairs and acne scars will be edited out? If it doesn’t, you have no recourse with your photographer. If it does, then explain what you are unhappy about and see what arrangement can be reached.
You CAN have someone else edit the pictures (or ask/pay your photographer to do so) and they may be able to fix some or all of the problems you’re having. However, it sounds like the things that you don’t like about the pictures are things to do with your personal appearance, and not with the quality of the photographer’s work. Please don’t give your photographer a bad review because of something that she could not control.

First off, be brave and show someone you trust the pictures. Your mom, your maid of honor, whomever. Get the opinion of someone a little less close to the problem. How bad are they really? My chin, I swear, is tremendously lopsided, and I’m sort of fixated on it, but literally only two other people have ever even noticed. Sometimes we’re a little too critical of ourselves, right?
Once you decide whether you actually have a problem the size you describe, go over the contract. Make sure these are finished pictures, not proofs. Then calmly call up your photographer and explain to her that you’re not completely satisfied with her work. Talk to her about your expectations and your understanding of the contract. Ask her for her help. Don’t yell at her. Make her your ally. She wants you to have great pictures and to be happy too.
And, finally, realize there are limits to what photoshop can reasonably accomplish. And there are limits to what photoshop should accomplish. I had my freckles completely wiped out and my teeth made crazy looking once by a well-meaning photoshopper. I’m sure he thought I’d rather have teeth that looked like Chick-lets and freckle-less skin, but these are the things that make me look like me.
After all, your husband married you because he loves you. That’s what your wedding day is about, after all. And he loves you just the way you look without a lot of airbrushing, right? That’s the important thing.
