Do you have any acne remedy tips?

Question: Do you have any acne cure tips?
Hello World wide web People!
I post on Yahoo! Answers apiece once in a while about random things, but now I want some serious help. It doesn’t matter what sex you are, if you can help, I want to know!
I have mild to severe cystic acne. I have days when my face is clear, aside from the scars left behind, and I have days when it’s just so bad I want to cry. When it’s that bad, I refuse to go outside of my house. Sometimes I won’t even take the trash out in case someone is outside to see my face.
However, it’s not just my face. I have had some serious problems with “bacne” as my brother likes to call it. It can extend a tiny down my arms. Sometimes I’ll even get some in random spots on my thighs – that I don’t get.
I’ve tried apiece single product out there, hoping it’ll help me out. Proactiv used to work wonders for me, but mysteriously has stopped giving me the results I want to see, even if I use it religiously. I’ve tried those 3-step store products like Clean & Clear and Neutrogena. Now, Neutrogena has worked okay for me in the past with their orange-colored transparent acne soap but that’s about it. I don’t want to take Accutane, even if it worked well for my friend. I have heard way too many bad things about it, so no thanks!
I’m starting to wonder now if it’s part of my diet. It’s not the healthiest diet, but I’m starting to change it in hopes that could help, but in the meantime I want to know if there is anything else out there that has works wonders for you. It could be a store purchased product, or a weird ancient home remedy. I tried one I found on youtube once that had sugar, honey and apple cider vinegar in it. It was just a scrub, and I couldn’t tell if it worked or not because I stopped using it after the smell prefabricated me so nauseous I got sick to my stomach.
I went to a dermatologist for some advice, and since I don’t have insurance she recommended taking Yaz birth control and she gave me a handful of Differin samples. I can never tell if anything works because the severity of my acnes comes and goes. The birth control started working after a while, but then I ran out and never went back for more. But I’m thinking about doing that again.
I’ve also been thinking about going to a tanning salon. I know it’s not a permanent solution; it just darkens your skin to mask the redness, really… and dries it out. I’ve never been to a tanning salon, and always stated I wouldn’t – but now I’m getting pretty desperate.
I just turned 21, and I’m starting to go out more and I like to wear prettier things that might be strapless or show some back/arms. Sick of the acne. SIIICK OFFF ITTTTT.

Acne requires a multi-faceted approach. If you have acne clean your skin gently, ry not to touch your skin when your hands are not clean, and stay away from the sun.

The three basics of acne treatment are to (1) unclog pores, (2) kill bacteria, and (3) minimize oil. Use mild exfoliating cleansers to unclog your pores. Use benzoyl peroxide to kill the bacteria. Get rid of oil on the surface of your skin by using a gentle toner. Normally drug store brands will do apiece of these things well. You don’t need to spend a fortune.

These are all good basic skin regimens that might help with the acne battle:

Cleanse twice regularly with a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash. An substitute for those who are allergic to benzoyl peroxide is 2% salicylic acid.

Apply a gel or cream containing 5% benzoyl peroxide; an substitute is sulfur or resorcinol.

At night, apply a spot cream containing sulfur to the affected areas.

Use a light skin moisturizer and oil-free makeup.

If you try all these approaches and it still does not seem to work, it is time to consult your doctor. You might need a prescription medication approach to deal with your acne.

And read the information at these sites. You might find other ideas that will help you.

Get good sleep. Stress increases your skin’s oiliness, which, combined with sweat and dirt, can clog pores and cause pimples. (Change your pillowcase frequently.)

Acne medications may cause your skin to initially break out worse than before because all FDA-approved acne medications (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur) are causing your skin to regenerate faster. This brings existing acne pimples already under your skin (but not visible yet) to the surface, which in turn causes a massive but fortunately temporary break out. Give the medications time to work — about one to two weeks — and you will notice a big difference in the quality of your skin.

See a dermatologist if over the counter remedies does not work. They specialize in skin care and can prescribe you medicines that help you improve it.

Drink plenty of water. Staying well hydrated can help your condition improve, because the “waste management” control system in your body requires a lot of water to do its job. Without enough water, the body has difficulty removing some waste products efficiently.

Look for face washes which contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. This is the key ingredient in some of the best face washes. Use a 5-10% benzoyl peroxide of mild to moderate acne and 10% for severe.

Try smashing one tablet of aspirin in a small bowl, then adding lemon juice to the mixture. Aspirin is acetesalicylic acid, chemically related to salicylic acid. Apply to the affected areas overnight. It boosts the healing process while reducing redness.

Try putting toothpaste (paste, NOT gel) on your face, cover it with a bandage, and keep it on all night. When you wash it off in the morning your acne will look better. The astringent and surfactant nature of the toothpaste will help diminish the appearance of pimples. But the toothpaste has been known to burn sensitive skin of the face, so be careful. If your face does burn, stop acne treatments and work on healing your burn.

Try using Bentonite Clay, a natural mineral powder which has been known to absorb impurities and help neutralise the skin’s oiliness, and can be found online. Mix 2 tablespoons with a dash of cold water and smooth over the face as a thick paste. Once dried gently wipe off with a flannel or sponge.

Another way to zap pimples is shaving cream. Apply it to your pimple and it will dry it up. It disappears by morning, but washes your face after waking up. If nothing is working for you, drink four tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted with water daily. It works very well for some people and is worth a try. Another good solution is aloe Vera gel fresh from the plant, taken orally.

You can also try taking a zinc tablet everyday.
