Does Laser Treat Acne?
March 12th, 2009Does Laser Treat Acne?
Acne is an incurable problem. It can be treated with medicines and physical procedures but no guarantee can be given that it will not crop again. This is prefabricated physicians look at more effective treatments for acne. Laser is one such procedure that is being tried to treat acne quickly. If it succeeds, it can be a huge boon not only for acne on face but also acne on the back where it is difficult to apply medication.
Commonly the medicines used to treat acne include- Benzoyl Peroxide, Sulphur, Resorcinol, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin A derivatives such as Tretinoin, Adaplene etc. and other medications that are used topically. Antibiotics are commonly used orally to treat the inflammation caused by the P. acnes bacteria. Lasers are new entrants in this field. Let us find out the position of lasers in treating acne.
Laser is not used extensively to treat acne. Diode laser has been used to treat acne but the results are not yet conclusive. Diode laser destroys the sebaceous glands and treats acne by stopping any production of sebum. It is sebum that is blocked by the dead skin and fills a pimple. This sebum then gets infected and the pimple becomes inflamed. By removing/destroying the sebaceous gland, laser removes the root cause of acne. The laser might cause pain but that can be reduced using local anesthetic. Side effects are very mild and temporary and include- redness, swelling etc.
Pulsed dye laser has not given satisfactory results. Some studies have been conducted with lasers but they are not being commonly used to treat acne. If you feel that you can get help from lasers, you should consult your doctor.

Question: How to treat this chemical burn?
I applied a cream yesterday morning with 4% hydroquinone I had lying around to treat post acne marks. It is called obagi clear. I am on accutane so my skin is very dry and fragile.
This morning I woke up with red patches wherever I applied the cream. Its a tiny tingly but doesnt injured much and the skin is still flat and smooth. I feel like I might have burnt my skin but it is very red considering I dont get rid as I am brown. I ams scared I might cause worse pigmentation.
Anyway I can prevent further pigmentation, and heal this quickly? Am I to be concerned by this reaction?

Chemical Burn On Skin – How To Treat
Chemical burns are burns from lye, acids, or other tissue-damaging chemicals splashed on the skin. Most of these accidents cause only first-degree burns. They usually peel like a sunburn over the following week. Chemical burns can occur in the home, at work or school, and as a result of accident or assault. Although few people in the United States die after contact with chemicals in the home, many substances common in both living and storage areas can do serious harm.
If the burn heals and when the crusts fall off there is a mark or scar, or before the crust falls off start applying BIOSKINCARE as early as possible and you will most probably achieve minimal or scarless healing, or the scarring will diminish to nothing in a very short period of time with disciplined application of a little cream twice a day every day on the area.

Just wash off the old cream and put sunscreen on the spots to prevent tanning.
Seriously, the less you do to them, the faster they will heal.
Hydroqinone cause that reaction as part of the depigmentation.
