Dry acne-prone skin. Please help. AcneFree? ?
January 2nd, 2012Question: Dry acne-prone skin. Please help. AcneFree? ?
I’ve been struggling with acne since about 7th grade (I’m 18 now). I had horrible back acne which after about 3 years cleared up but “transferred” to my face. I’m in college now, and I just want to get rid of my acne once and for all. I have dry skin… even with my moisturizer my skin can look flaky and sometimes skin around my blemishes starts to peel. I have blackheads everywhere and stubborn whiteheads that typically stay under the skin, even though it’s not cystic acne. My face also tends to get red somewhat easily, and I have red marks left behind from previous acne. I’m going to the store this day and am thinking about buying AcneFree Severe because it got great reviews, as opposed to the blended reviews of the regular AcneFree. I’m somewhat hesitant because of my already dry skin and I usually try to stick with more gentle or natural products, even though it seems that those haven’t been working too well.
I’d really appreciate any advice at all.
Thanks so much!

I used it and it didn’t work so well.. But I tried the extra strength Acne Free (its in an orange pump container), I’m not sure if that is the actual name, but it worked well.
Try getting Proactiv. It works miracles, but the only problem with it is that you need to continually use it, like month after month, you never can come off of it or you break out again.

topical stuff never worked for me
I only had acne for a few months but i tried like every topical thing
the only thing i can credit my clear faace to is my wonderful dermatologist
Dude! go see a doctor and get some prescribed medication! they will give you something that will be designed for your exacerbated condition and it will be much better than anything you can get in the shops.
if you must get something from the shops, buy something with Benzoyl Peroxide in it. Because you skin seems very sensitive, i recommend that you buy a 2.5% cream and only put it on every 2 days at first, then after a fortnight or so put it on once a day, and gradually increase application to 2 times a day. Benzoyl peroxide is a proven anti-acne cream, and it should help, but you can only get it from chemists (in the uk at least). Just make sure you apply it to the spot prone areas, not just the spots, and keep reapplying to those areas, even if the spots disappear.
EDIT: It looks like this AcneFree cream has Benzoyl Peroxide in it, so i recommend that product!
even though you don’t want to hear it, you HAVE to go to a dermatologist. if you’ve tried many things, you have to go there. they will help you get something that is perfect for your skin and it will be gone. good luck!
Here is my suggestion:
Proactiv Solution.
I am in 9th grade and I have some friends who have been struggling with acne. They bought Proactiv Solution at their local mall and it has worked wonders! One of my friends used to have really stubborn whiteheads as you have and Proactiv Solution can get rid of them easily! Proactiv Solution has a Cleanser, Toner, Repairing Lotion, and a mask. Use it once to twice a day and you’re acne will clear up! I also suggest using Nitrogena’s The Wave. It cleanses 10 times deeper than most Cleansers. You’re skin is smoother after one use! Good Luck!
I can definitely relate to your skin issues- i always seem to have either acne, dry skin, or both on my face- CONSTANTLY. I actually bought the AcneFree 3 step set at Target a few months ago- and i used it about twice a day for a few weeks. (Just so you know- the set consists of a cleanser, a toner, and a “repair lotion”, but the lotion actually does the OPPOSITE of moisterizing- it dries, so you need a REAL moisterizer/lotion on top if that.) At first, i really thought that my skin was improving, but that only lasted for like a week. Then the acne and dry skin came back- so i haven’t used it in a while. It cost about $20, and i might try it again soon to see if it might work again.
But i’m not sure if it’s really worth it. I’ve heard that Proactive works, but i’ve never tried it.
Currently, my acne and dry skin has improved greatly, and what i’ve been using is Differin .01% gel or cream at night, and Aveeno moisterizer during the day. I also use a wash cloth a few times a day with warm water just to get all the sweat and dirt off, followed by either aveeno lotion or differin (depending on if i have worse acne or dry skin currently). I really hope it helps- it’s based on my experience.:-)
I had terrible acne and acne scars then i went to a dermatologist and i got this perception lotion for my face called benzaclin it took care of 95% of my acne in 3 months it is used to dry up the skin so that acne wont form up and if its to dry after you use it let it soke in then use oil free lotion and in a while all acne will be gone so go to a doctor and ask about Benzaclin DONT USE PROACTIVE OR ANY STORE BOUGHT PRODUCTS WHEN USEING THIS unless its a wash for the shower
use Nivea Soap free gel twice a day and then go to a skin Dr for preventing measure
