Easy Professional Waxing at Home

December 16th, 2010 by Angela

Let’s face it, at least in this country., if a girl has hair any place other than the “regular” locations  (e.g., head, eyebrows, eyelashes), she is most likely hunting for a way to get rid of it, i.e., for hair removal. Many of these females — and you might be one of them — select waxing, and they go to day spas or salons and pay normally anything from $8.00 for brows to $88 and up for a Brazilian.

Without question they get pampered and go away with silky smooth skin, but… is it really worth the cost?  Is there a way to get similar spa waxing results with less than that expense?

The swift response is: Yes.

You might have been led to think that only a “skilled tech” with “professional” products can give you a great wax, but, let’s be real, when you go to a spa or salon, most of what you pay is just for an experience.  If what you’re really wanting for is just a great wax, you can achieve them on your own. You can do a professional waxing job at home with minimal equipment and expense. All you honestly have to have to start are:

  • wax
  • a wax warmer (a one-time expense)
  • spatulas
  • strips for wax removal
  • some practice

Quite a few salons also supply their own cleansers and soothing lotions as a part of their treatments, but don’t be fooled:  You can get your own equivalents of spa products without having to pay the excessive mark-ups they’ll demand.

As soon as you’ve assembled your supplies, the actual steps to waxing are simple and easy.

  1. The day just before you wax, exfoliate your skin. This eliminates dead flaky skin and aids in preventing ingrown hairs.
  2. Right before you start waxing, apply a powder to  your skin. This should help the wax ahere to the hair and not the skin.
  3. Adhering to the directions on the package, warm your wax. Be sure to test the temperature before you start spreading the wax.
  4. Utilizing a spatula, smooth the wax in the direction that the hair folicles grow. Your application  should bethe identical size as the strips you’re using, and you ought to do the job section by section: Do not apply all of the wax right away and think you can rip it all off at one time.
  5. To clear away the wax, smooth the strips over it and rub firmly. You need  the strip to make contact with as much wax as possible. Then, hold the skin taught and swiftly pull the strip in the opposite direction of the hair folicles’ growth. Be sure to “rip” the strip along the skin and not upward.
  6. If any excess wax is left on your skin, you can get rid ofit with olive oil or, if you would rather, a product designed for the purpose.

To finish, use a soothing product or cream, however stay away from things with alcohol or perfumes that might possibly irritate you.

As with most techniques, waxing might require some practice to get the final results you’re seeking, but it’s seriously not that hard, and I feel you’ll find the impact on your budget and convenience (no more appointments!) very well worth the small effort.
