Getting Cheaper Contact Lenses Online: 5 Tips

January 14th, 2011 by Angela

Have you ever shopped for contact lenses online only to notice many of the stores selling the same products but for noticeable price differences? Well it’s the reality but you can actually narrow down the best places to shop.

The truth is contact lenses prices do vary between online retailers and it is on you to really shop around for the best rates from the most reputable online stores. Here are some tips on how to do that:

Reputable Stores

Select a reputable online store – usually a swift search will yield the largest and most established companies who have hundreds upon hundreds of individual reviews. These are prescription products so be extra selective who you purchase from and never purchase from a retailer that does not ask for your prescription number or specific details.

Rebates & Discounts

It can happen that stores don’t advertise current manufacturer rebates and/or offers. That can sometimes account for the price differences but this isn’t usually common. Take a few minutes to ask since mail in rebates do make a difference to the bottom line you pay. Alternatively, you can check out some review sites that have all of these rebates and price comparisons done for you by major online retailers (depending on the exact type of lens). One of the most favourite lenses, the acuvue contact lenses line by Johnson & Johnson has a review site as does the one for the proclear contact lenses which used to be called Cooper Vision.

Coupons

Some sites have current coupon codes you can enter to get even more savings off the advertised retail price. Check out any accessible coupons and be sure to entire the coupon code you are interested in at checkout in order to receive the discount/s.

Quantity

No surprise here – the more you buy, the more you save in the form of lower cost per box. You also get free shipping with most stores for larger orders which saves you the extra freight had you put multiple orders throughout the year.

Honoring Guarantees

If a retailer makes a low price guarantee offer and you feel good buying from them, be sure to always ask for them to honor it! Don’t be shy to do so as they often, upon receiving a link to the competitor, promptly process your order: at the new discounted price of course!

Be sure to also look for special rates even on speciality lenses (such as proclear multifocal toric). If there is a general discount or coupon code offered, it will save you quite substantially.

In the end, do your part and the savings will drop your way. Happy lens shopping!
