Question: HELP!! I want to do laser hair removal but I used to take acne pills that makes my skin sensitive to light…?
I’ve been taking medication for my acne called “Doxycycline” for 4 months straight and my dermatologist told me that the pill makes my skin sensitive to light so I shouldn’t go to tanning beds and that I should always wear sunscreen when I go out. She also stated that I can't do laser hair removal because it will burn my skin since it’s extra delicate.
I told her that I wanted to do laser hair removal eventually and she stated that I had to be off the pill for 3-4 months so everything could get out of my system/bloodstream. It’s been 2 months now and I have not taken the pill. I called her and told her that I wanted to do laser hair removal and she stated she can not give me any correct answer or anything because she “doesn’t know what kind of laser I am using” and all that crap. I honestly think she’s just bullsh*ting because she wants me to spend more money and do it at her salon.
Does anyone know how long it usually takes for something to get out of your blood system?? Please let me know. Thanks!!

By the way- for the hair removal I am going to use laser…not IPL (intense pulsed light). Someone please give me some answers!!

Actually she’s not BS you. They all use different lasers and at different strengths. You should give her some respect and follow her advice and just wait.

Not only that, some people react badly to lasers anyway. I am guessing it’s not going to go well for you.
Not only that, laser hair removal does not work. It costs A LOT and all it does is temporarly slow the hair growth. In some cases it actually increases it. So.. what can I say… don’t waste your money.
