home remedies for acne?
April 11th, 2011Question: home remedies for acne?
I’m getting engaged soon (within a couple days possibly) and have just broke out with stress acne all over my forehead. I want to try natural home remedies because I’ve wasted too much money on the store stuff over the years. Anyway, I tried using an egg white with honey mask the last two days, which is just bringing everything to head/making the spots inflamed, and dries out my skin and which then gets really oily (normally combination type skin) So probably too late to get rid of anything completely, but any ideas just to moisturize and reduce redness? Preferably easy things which you’ve tried yourself, no “cut/paste” from websites please.
Thanks

Pretty late now, but watch your diet.
dab a bit of toothpaste on the worst red spots, and leave on overnight. it should dry them out and releive the redness. it works for me. good luck with your engagement! xx
For a quick, on the spot way to get rid of zits, use toothpaste! It is amazing! Just put the toothpaste on before you go to bed and rinse off in the morning with warm water. Usually, the zit clears up within a few days and it does not make your skin too dry. However, you should still use moisturizer in the morning after you wash your face.
Home acne remedies do not work. I recommend you read the book Breaking Out by Lydia Preston to help you understand acne and all the treatments available. The book will help you identify over-the-counter products that actually have a chance of working and also inform you of all your other treatment options. I had acne, and I am so unbelievably grateful someone recommended this book to me.
I won’t cut and paste from a website, but I do advise you to read the following pages: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/acne-and-acne-treatment.aspx and http://www.cosmeticscop.com/best-acne-fighting-products.aspx
I would like to make you think about how your diet has changed over this time that you have been stressed. Are you not eating properly, not drinking enough water, drinking too much alcohol perhaps? Check out what you’re fueling your body with as this will come out in your face and especially if the acne is around your chin area, this can indicate your kidneys are not functioning properly which usually means more water. Drink lots of water and eat lots of fresh veg and fruit every day. This also helps your body cope with stress. And don’t go putting too much harsh stuff on your face you could make it worse. Good luck.
