Question: How do I treat acne caused by hormonal imbalance?
Please do not answer with the birth control pill. Three months ago I stopped taking the pill for important reasons. My acne before the pill was all over my back, face, and a tiny on the chest area. Going on the pill it went away, but now that i’m off it it’s back- and it’s worse than ever before. I have no desire to go to a dermatologist since I know my acne is caused by a hormonal imbalance. Does anyone have remedies for either a hormonal imbalance, or acne? For instance, I’ve tried herbal supplements like the maca root, or tea tree oil for blemish control. Other recommendations along those lines would be welcome.
I should also note: I am perfectly healthy. I exercise an hour a day, drink tons of water, take zinc, b-complex, fish oil, have a perfectly balanced diet with occasional indulgences. I know that nothing in my diet is causing my acne because I’ve ingested the same foods since being on the pill and off the pill- the only variable was the pill.

Get your body as healthy as doable with exercise and diet. Exercise for an hour each day and drink plenty of water and lots of fresh foods. Avoid anything highly processed, high in sugar, caffeine, or saturated fat. Cut out all Dairy. Healthy on the inside = healthy on the outside. Keep your skin clean, but use mild products only. Try WV or something similar that is hypoallergenic, PH neutral, soap free, colour free, fragrance free – and only use a little, wash mostly with water. Take a multivitamin or vitamin containing Zinc.

OK, if your diet is already good, cut out ALL dairy (it is full of hormones) – unless you want to go back on the pill. This is good advice, try it for a month and see what happens, you have nothing to loose.
