How to bathe when you have Psoriasis

You probably already know the importance of proper skincare in the treatment of Psoriasis. Moisturizing and showering are two of the most important topics you will need to familiarize yourself with.  In particular, showering right can be of great help in dealing with the pains and aches that psoriasis can often cause. Here are some important tips for showering right.

Your physician will strongly advise against taking long baths or showers and tell you to stay away from hot water. All showering should take place as swift as doable and in lukewarm water. Sometimes showering or showering too often can backfire and dry out your skin even more. Don’t vigorously rub your skin dry after a shower or bath. Instead, path yourself dry. This will help with the skin condition. And be sure to moisturize your skin right after patting your skin dry.

Too many showers or baths can dry out the skin considerable if proper care is not taking right afterward.  Dry skin is the worst nightmare for someone who suffers from psoriasis because dry skin equals itchy skin. Itchy skin leads to another flare-up.

So, short baths and showers can help aid in alleviating the symptoms of psoriasis and can give the body much of the moisture it needs. When drying off, stay away from swift rubbing motions that you might be used to. Instead, pat yourself dry and gently remove the excess water from your body. You don’t have to be absolutely dry to moisturize, the tiny bit of water needs to be there in order to keep the skin hydrated. To capture and lock in that moisture apply skin creams and lotions.

Add olive oil, mineral oil, vegetable oil or another similar oil to the bath water. The addition of oils to the bath water will soothe the skin. It can also help combat inflammation. Epsom salt can also be added to the bath watter. It can help with symptomatic relief. It is also known to keep dry and patchy spots under control.

One of the natural psoriasis treatments is to bathe or shower in the right way to keep the skin moisturized.  It can also help with pain relief that frequently accompanies psoriasis.

Short lukewarm bath or showers, use of natural oils and salts in the bath water, patting yourself dry, and moisturizing your skin with cream or lotion — this is a easy element to enabling your own psoriasis cure.
