If you stop using it entirely yeah, your acne will begin coming back – perhaps not as severe…but I was in your place, and I wasn’t about to find out! I was ready to cut back from using it each night to using it a couple times a week though…that seems to keep my skin relly clear

Who should not use Retin-A MICRO®?
Do not use Retin-A MICRO® if:
* you are sunburned. Do not use Retin-A MICRO® until your skin has fully recovered.
* you have eczema or other skin conditions. Retin-A MICRO® can cause severe irritation if used on eczema.
* you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Retin-A MICRO®.
The active ingredient is tretinoin. See the list of other ingredients at the end of this leaflet.
Tell your doctor before using Retin-A-Micro® if
* you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or may be pregnant.
* you are breast feeding. We do not know if Retin-A-MICRO® can pass through your milk to the baby.
* you are using any other medicines to treat your acne. Do not use any other medicines unless they are recommended by your doctor. Other acne medicines used with Retin-A MICRO® may make your face more likely to be dry and red and cause it to peel.
* you are taking medicines for other health conditions. Some medicines may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Tell your doctor about all medicines that you are taking.
You will eventually grow out of having acne (for the most part. Adults get acne a little, but nothing like teens do), this may take years though, so in the mean time, if you stopped the medication, it will likely come back.
So you may need to use if for a few years, but most likely you won’t need it your whole life.
I had TERRIBLE acne as a kid, and was on just about every medication that was available, including retin a. I no longer use any kind of acne medication, and for themost part I have no acne. I do get an occasional pimple, but nothing bad.
You don’t have to continue to use if for the rest of your life! You’ll grow out of it, don’t worry!! But for now, you should still be using Retin-A micro. You’re seeing good results, and it IS because of the Retin-A. Once you stop using it, your face is defenseless. I would recommend that Little by little you decrease its use, but not stop it entirely. Slowly, get your face used to the Retin-A once a week, rather than everyday. If you suddenly stop, or dramatically decrease the dosage, your face might react badly and then it could reject it if you start using it again. This is in fact an AntiBacterial that you’re using, so you need to carefully follow the instructions and finish the whole dosage.
Remember, all progress comes with time. Be patient, the acne will go away, but for now, do what you need to do to keep it under control!
