Question: Is it okay to get a tattoo on your back if you previously had acne?
There aren’t any black or white heads or any acne anymore for that matter, I used stuff to get rid of it and lost the habbit of poking around back there. There are a few scars but they’re mainly just red marks from where the acne was.. The scars arent raised or rough or anything like that. Is it ok to get a tattoo over the scars? I would want to get a huge black design across my upper back…

Thanks.

Yes it is. They will tell you if they could do the tattoo or not before they begin doing it.

If you are prone to back acne you should not get a tattoo in that area. There are no serious health risk but the tattoo may aggravate the skin causing more acne which can affect the appearance of the tattoo. It is imperative to keep the tattoo moist while it is healing, usually with salve or ointment this can also can acne flair-ups. Tattoos have to heal and the ink has to settle into your skin so it will create a neat, uniform appearance. If you get acne before the tattoo has completely healed it will affect the coloring and cause patches of color-loss in your tattoo.
