February 21st, 2009Question: Is there anything you can do about infant acne?
My baby is 6 weeks old and she had acne on her chest, shoulders and face. The physician told me to stop putting lotion on her face because it clogs her pores. I did that but it really didn’t help much. I don’t use the baby soap on her face either. Is there some kind of home cure or something?

No, but it’s absolutely normal. She was just born and all your hormones are not in her body anymore and she is adjusting to her own hormonal level. Don’t pick it~ You would hate to scar your baby for life… it will go away on it’s own and it’s absolutely normal~ You notice it more than anyone else I’m sure~

my son is 2.5weeks old now and hes had it on his forehead and a bit on his cheaks for about 5 days now. I’ve noticed that wiping his face with a wet washcloth twice a day seems to be clearing it up quite a bit. Im not using soap or lotion, just warm water on a wash cloth.
my daughter had it and it was only a few weeks. she’s 3 mos old now and its all gone. i just kept her skin clean.
My baby gir the same problem….use a gental soap. i use huggies shea butter soap. And acctually i found that if i put lotion on, each blemish healed faster… i also used huggies shea butter lotion. It goes away, but i know it looks horrible.I ended up getting her pics done when she was 2 weeks and all you can see is her acne. good luck but trust me it goes away and gets better soon.
just leave it alone..they will go away…try washing her with just water and just use a mild soap if places that she really needs…dont use anything on her…no baby powder, no lotions, nothing…the less the better!!
My son had it also and there is nothing u can do it will go away on its own. Dont pick @ it! just let it do its thang .
baby acne is caused by hormonal changes, not by clogged pores. Unfortunately there really isn’t much to do about it except wait it out. You could try switching baby wash to an unscented glycerine based wash (California Baby, Simple Baby) and lotion regime in case it is exacerbated by allergies in her skin.
Our pedi suggested using Dial Antibacterial Gold Soap. Scrub firmly (not gentle and not rough) It worked within like a week or two for our son. Good luck!
