* Is there really anything for the baby acne?
April 29th, 2009 Question: Is there anything really * * baby acne? My tiny man is 5 weeks old and has a good case of baby acne. He started a few grains about 3 weeks, a tiny over four weeks and now it seems that exploded in Week 5. He has in his cheeks, back of his head and down on his chest. You have to get better, right? I know that my 2yr old had, but I think that 2Mo was gone. I know that at 10 weeks it was. I know you probably do not mind, but it looks so painful. Moreover, when he clutches his face always angry (which is spectacular .. LOL), which further irritates lejos.Es simply washing your face (and other affected parties) with warm water only thing that helps? Anyone find something that works? GraciasLa breast milk, really? I will certainly give it a try.

Ok, you most likely will say to your self gross but it works. Use his pee from his diaper.
I didn’t use anything on my son.. just plain water to wash it.. it was all over his chest as well.. I think he had it for about 5 weeks max.. and it did go away. Just bare with it. (My paediatrician recommended just using water on it as well).
I put breast milk on my sons and it went away pretty quickly.
I have heard breastmilk, not sure if it works or not though.
It will get better. Pimples and other skin issues in newborns are completely normal. When the baby is born, he’s full of hormones from your body. As those hormone levels adjust, it tends to cause some breakouts, similar to how many women experience breakouts when they’re nearing or on their period, and many use hormonal birth control to help their breakouts. It’s a hormonal thing, so nothing you put on his skin will clear it up. It’s not necessary to treat it. You can continue to wash it regularly with mild soap, and you can put a mild lotion on it, if you like. It’s not necessary to use lotion, though. You can use breastmilk, if you like. Breastmilk is very soothing for the skin. Of course, it’s not really necessary, either.
If he’s a big face scratcher, you can try little mittens, or clothes with hand covers built into the sleeves. Make sure his nails are trimmed, too.
Sounds like he has “crazy hands” just like my daughter. I remember thinking “Will this EVER end?!” …I felt like I didnt want to have people over until it cleared up. But it’s true, there’s not much you can do as it is caused by hormones. My daughter rubbed her face a lot as well–it seemed to make it more red, but eventually it cleared up on it’s own, when she was around 7 weeks.
The breastmilk didnt seem to do much for my daughter, but I have heard that before. But the opposite is true of spit up, even if it is breast milk that they are spitting up. That will enflame their skin more, from my experience.
Unfortunately, it has to run it’s course. If it gets really bad, my pediatrician said they have a steroid cream–but that is in rare cases.
Best wishes, and hang in there! My daughter is 12 weeks old now and has gorgeous baby skin!!
