Looking For An Acne Treatment That Truly Works
December 28th, 2010A Google search of the world wide web looking for “acne remedy” will give you thousands of pages with doable results. In addition, one of the pages might have hundreds of recommendations for a cure. Some of the remedies seem very strange but others might actually work.
One recommendation is to massage in oily coconut milk nightly before bedtime. Another recommendation is to use soy sauce on your acne. With soy sauce, one has to wonder if the salt or soy is the actual help for the problem.
One mixture sounded like a good way to keep vampires and members of the opposite sex away. It was to use garlic paste on the face for a natural remedy where there were outbreaks of acne. Another seemed more appropriate as the ingredients for a gourmet meal. There were recommendations for several spices as remedies.
One ingredient that has proven effective for over thirty years is benzyl peroxide. It prevents new outbreaks and dries old ones. It is effective at preventing scarring of the face, along with the back, chest and neck.
Adults with acne should stay away from benzyl peroxide containing products, as they tend to dry the skin too much. Instead, adults should select products that contain salicylic acid. These products are gentler on the adult skin as they are not as drying as those that contain benzyl peroxide.
One new acne cure uses light to treat the problem. The acne light has filters that produce light in two different wavelengths. On the red end of the spectra, light causes healing of former acne outbreaks. On the blue end, bacteria is killed. This bacteria on the face can lead to clogging of the pores and build up of the oils in the pores that cause acne. Persons using light therapy must be dedicated to a cure, as they do not start to see an improvement for about eight weeks after beginning the therapy.
Many people find that the over the counter products are all that are needed to take care of an acne problem. If you are not having success with these products, see your physician or ask for a referral to a dermatologist. He can offer more advice to prevent outbreaks as well as prevent scarring.
