Seeing stretch marks on your skin can be very annoying as you know that these scars are very hard to get rid of. In addition to this, some form in places that make it hard for you to wear certain types of clothing as they can be easily seen. This is why a lot of people, especially women, would do nearly anything to get rid of these scars.

Stretch marks form when the body increases rapidly in size such that the skin is not massive enough to cover it. This causes the skin to stretch past its limit which then results in the tearing of the dermal layer. Once the skin heals, a permanent scar is often left which is more often than not, very hard to get rid of.

Once you already have these stretch marks, there are still a lot of options that you can select from to lighten their appearance or eliminate them completely. If you are lucky and you didn’t form any marks on easily seen body parts, you can just rely on wearing strategic clothing to cover up these marks.

One of the most favourite procedures used in getting rid of scars and stretch marks is microdermabrasion. This method is effective as it removes the outermost layer of the skin, taking along any scar tissue along with it. Deeper scars will be significantly less visible if not absolutely removed.

This first method is somewhat painful as it leaves the skin raw for a couple of weeks. If you want a less painful but just as effective method, you might want to try undergoing laser treatment. This method focuses on removing the scar only without affecting your normal skin so it is a lot less painful.

Another method that people commonly undergo but might be a lot riskier is cosmetic surgery. This method can fully take out the scars left due to the extreme stretching of the skin. Unfortunately, this exposes you to the risks of surgery as you might need to be opened up or skin patches will be removed so that the scars will also be removed with them.

Other safer methods that you can try are home remedies such as the use of cocoa butter and other creams. These help in moisturizing the skin and helping break down scar tissue so that it might be replaced with younger cells that will make the scar look lighter in appearance. Massaging is also another way of helping making scars look lighter.

You don’t have to panic if you discover that you have a lot of stretch marks on your body. You have many options to select from to get rid of these blemishes on your skin. during times when you are anticipating stretch marks to form, you might take preventive measures to lessen the chances of these marks from forming.
