The Basics of Human Stem Cells

December 7th, 2010 by Angela

Human stem cells represent cellular formations that have not assumed a body function yet; they first grow in embryonic tissues when the body is developing, and new groups of specialized cells are necessary, but they have also been identified in mature adult tissues. No recovery from disease, injury or decay would be doable without these human stem cells that activate the moment they are needed. Human stem cells now represent the medical hope for the treatment of irrecoverable diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, cancer, strokes, diabetes or heart attacks. And if science makes enough progress such accomplishments will be possible.

Human stem cells collected from embryos causes death to the donating embryo. For such reasons, human embryo stem cell research was given an eight-year ban during the Bush administration of the US. Presently, efforts are being prefabricated to develop a technique that would enable skin cells to be converted into induced pluripotent stem cells instead of the embryonic ones. At the moment, views and views remain biased, which will continue as long as people see a real mortal in the fertilized union between a spermatozoon and an ovum.  If you’re researching stem cells for diet purposes, check out the Seattle HCG diet.  Likewise, if zipping around in a convertible car, there’s the BMW Z4 windscreen windblocker wind deflector.

Adult human stem cells are not subject to controversy but they are absolutely limited in terms of research capacities. In their adult stage, stem cells can only specialize as certain types of cells with specific tasks, and therefore, they can't be part of the same unlimited number of options provided by embryo research. The choice could be pretty difficult if we think about the ethical point of view: can we stop a fetus from growing for pure scientific reasons? And on the other hand, human stem cells could help to the creation of a panacea.   Finally, if you want to peer into future health, there’s psychic readings.

Although in the testing part goes great and, human stem cells seem to be efficient treatments, the clinical programs are far from being over. There are still lots of mysteries to unravel and things to understand. For instance, we still don’t know where adult human stem cells come from, even if things appear to be clear in relation with the embryonic cultures, not the same thing can be stated about adult stem cell studies. Such an example is not at all singular, as there are many other blank spaces that science needs to fill before discovering the cure for all diseases and the fountain of youth.
