Tips For Caring For Your Hair Naturally
February 24th, 2011Is your hair giving you trouble? Does your hair look like its been through the wringer? You need to take immediate remedial steps to get the beautiful hair of your dreams. You won’t have to spend a fortune to get shiny and great hair. All it takes is a few minutes of your time and some stuff that you can usually find in your kitchen!
Here are some time-tested remedies that have been around for hundreds of years. Keep in mind that you have to follow the instructions regularly and not slip back into neglecting your hair. With a tiny help, your hair will get back its natural shine and make you feel like a brand new person.
Dandruff
You might be under the impression that the white flakes and itchiness are caused by dryness of the scalp. Oiliness causes severe dandruff. Mild dandruff may be the result of dryness but it is usually oiliness that causes major issues with dandruff.
Use an oil free natural shampoo and conditioner. Rinse carefully and give a final rinse with lemon juice in warm water. Wash your hair regularly to take away the excessive oil and to bring down the itchiness.
Try a balanced oil massage with one part lemon juice blended in two parts of almond or coconut oil. Massage carefully but firmly into the roots and leave on for three to four hours or overnight before washing with lukewarm water.
Limit exposing your hair to the wind and sun. Wear a hat in cold weather and use hair products with sunscreen to protect your hair in summer.
Dry & Lifeless Hair
Use only natural hair products tagged for dry hair. If you wash your hair daily, give it a break to help your scalp replenish its natural oils. Condition your hair frequently with a moisturizing or intensive natural conditioner. Avoid shampoos with high alcohol content and choose a shampoo, which lists oil as an ingredient.
Give yourself a thorough oil massage at least twice a week. Gently massage warm castor or olive oil into your hair for at least fifteen minutes. Wrap your head with a hot towel and wash with a natural shampoo after an hour. Always use a good moisturizing conditioner and never blow dry. Dry your hair naturally. Never comb or brush your hair in a rough manner. The more you leave your hair untouched the superior it is in the long run. But, using a wide toothed comb to remove tangles and stimulate the scalp can help in production of natural oils that make your hair shine.
Don’t use chemical based products for highlighting or colouring your hair. Use natural colouring agents as much as possible.
Take 2 tsp of dried and ground hibiscus leaves and mix with 1 tsp curd and 2 tbsp apiece of mint and basil juice. Add 1 tsp of powdered fenugreek and 1 tbsp of instant coffee to this mixture. Apply this paste to your hair and leave on for forty-five minutes before washing out thoroughly.
Mix honey with grated ginger and store in a glass jar. To prevent graying of hair, take 1 tsp of this mixture once a day.
Hair Loss
Never use chemical based hair products that have excessive alcohol. Use only natural shampoos, conditioners, and colourants.
Gently massage your hair on a regularly basis with warm almond oil to make your roots stronger.
Add neem leaves to water and boil; let it cool and then strain out the leaves and rinse your hair with the water.
Keep your hair squeaky by shampooing regularly with a natural gentle shampoo. Use a natural accelerator rich conditioner after each wash.
Excessive drinking of tea, coffee, and alcohol, smoking, intake of greasy and spicy foods and meat products, cause all kinds of hair trouble. Eating a poor diet will cause low haemoglobin, lesser immunity, and subsequent use of chemical medication, which leads to hair loss. Needless to state stress and anxiety lead the pack!
By including green leafy vegetables and fruits and nuts in your diet, with some regular exercise and yoga thrown in, you can drastically reduce hair loss.
The hair of your dreams will be yours in no time if you follow these guidelines!
