August 8th, 2010 by Angela

What are sores? Sores are shallow lesion with a white or yellow center and red border which is seen on the inner side of the lip and cheek or on the tongue. It starts with a fiery or tingling feeling and insignificant swelling. It is usually painful. It lasts 7–10 days and cures without a scar.

Sores are linked with emotional or psychological anxiety, exhaustion, hormonal issues, minor strain (such as piercing), allergies, sour foods and juices, and nutritional deficiencies. Patients with HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases also manifest sores.

Sores might recur so it will be wise for us to know self-care tips so we will not have repeated and frequent visits to our physicians.

1.    Use saline rinse.

A saline rinse is just water included with salt. Do not make a highly concentrated saline rinse as it can further cause ruin to the mucosa of the oral cavity.

2.    Consume spongy and tasteless diet.

Avoid irritating foods. Avoid seasonings and other foods with strong flavors. Avoid sour foods as it might further add to the lesion of the oral cavity. A soft diet can be very comfortable for a mortal experiencing mouth sores. Usually, an individual with sores doesn’t want to consume but we can cure this through proposing squashy foods like porridge and mashed foods.

3.    utilize over the counter corticosteroids.

Corticosteroids are anti-inflammatory agents which can stop the progression of the pain the mortal is experiencing. If it is topical, apply a thin amount and follow the instructions very carefully.

4.    Termination of tobacco use if the etiology of the sore is linked with heavy smoking.

Tobacco smoking can cause mouth ulcers or sores. Thus, if the cause of the problem is smoking, one should stop smoking. It can't only stay away from you from having sores; it also guards us from having respiratory ailments.

5.    Have proper oral hygiene.

Treat your oral cavity as your best friend. It is not always tendering our mouth the best foodstuffs for us but spending time providing oral cleanliness.

Just a knick-knack before I end this article. Do not always rely on self-care tips. If the symptoms progress even after a week of doing these tips, consult your doctor.
