What do you about nodular acne?
October 31st, 2011Question: What do you about nodular acne?
Since I have become pregnant I have developed a few of these super hard, half penny sized, slightly red lumps on my face. They are very painful. I’ve been doing a lot of research and have come to the conclusion that it is an acne nodule. Now I don’t have the money to visit the dermatologist and I really feel like it would be a waste since it’s not severe, only a few little nodules across my chin. I’m just wondering if anyone could offer recommendations on a way to treat it at home and cover it up.

Ahh nodular acne. I know all about being pregnant and suffering from this. It’s no fun, is it?
Most people will tell you that you totally can't treat this kind of acne without a dermatologists. However I disagree. One or two little nodules, while painful is not severe. Often it’s impossible to treat these kind of conditions when pregnant anyway.
Nodular acne is considered to be caused by an imbalance in hormones. Well your pregnant so you know that.
When I spoke to a dermatologists she actually suggested putting tea tree oil on the nodules. I tried it and after a couple of weeks the nodules where gone. Obviously the came back a few times while I was pregnant but after I gave birth they eventually went away.
The tea tree oil help dry out the oil which helped reduce a lot of the pressure and pain. If you can buy burts bee’s in your area I really advocate their tube of tea tree oil.
As for covering it up you can use green concealer with just a little bit of regular concealer. The green concealer neutralizes any redness and the regular concealer hides the nodule.
