What’s wrong with my complexion?
February 2nd, 2012Question: What’s wrong with my complexion?
Recently I noticed that my skin has begun to change. I don’t usually have very much acne, and when I do it’s only one or two zits at a time around the time of my period. About 2-3 months ago, I started noticing a few more zits on my face and my pores seemed to have gotten larger. They weren’t very noticeable, unless you were right up close and I didn’t think much of it, thinking it was just having to do with hormonal changes. After about a month I started trying new home “remedies” and started paying more attention to my skin. With the home remedies my skin looked okay, but the zits/bumps became irritated so I went back to my regular routine. Now things have kind of gotten back to normal, but my skin still feels odd. I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary and nothing much seems to have changed (except the weather).
About my skin/hair/nails and other things:
-Family history of Diabetes and Poly-Cystic Ovary Disease (PCOS)
-Hair thinning…My hair used to be very thick and long but changed texture about a year or two ago…both mother, grandmother and maternal aunt have very thin/fine hair. Also, my hair seems to drop out easily, however I’ve heard this is normal…this has been going on for 2-3 years.
-Nails seem to be normal, I’ve never really had very long nails (I tend to bite them…)
-Acne in different places…I used to get most of it on my face (1-2 very massive pustules) then it would go on my neck/back, lately smaller zits but very painful.
-Still a virgin
-I am overweight/obese (in the process of trying to change this)
Is there something wrong with me? Is this normal? What can I do to “go back to normal”?
*I will be seeing a new doctor this week and I will probably tell her all of this…but any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Umm maybe it could be an internal issue? Going on birth control really helped me regulate my skin as well as the texture of my hair, but it took a couple months so be patient! Other than that remember that your skin and hair do reflect what’s inside, if there’s a sudden change but no alterations to your routine it could be some reflection on your diet. Is there a vitamin you’re missing? Try and incorporate more veggies, fruits, vitamins, WATER, and all that jazz. I know people always say this, but it’s very true! When I make the effort to eat healthier and take vitamins my skin and hair always love me back.
