You can Forget about Worrying about Stretch Marks
May 3rd, 2011One of the most annoying scars that can form on your skin is stretch marks. This is because by the time you become aware of your body, there might already some marks that have previously formed on your skin. And sometimes, no matter how much you try and prevent them from occurring, they can still form especially during pregnancy.
Stretch marks are not only hard to prevent, but they are also harder to get rid off compared to normal scars. This is because they form on the underlying layer of the skin which makes them harder to reach. When the skin stretches too far, it is the dermal layer of the skin that tears, so the resulting scars will also form on this layer. You will still need to go through the outer layer of the skin before you can reach the inside.
Because a lot of people hate seeing blemishes and scars on their skin, many procedures and techniques have been developed in removing these scars and stretch marks. Since these marks are also considered as scars, a lot of people are using scar removal creams to get rid of them.
In some way, scar removal creams might work in lightning stretch marks but that is it. Using creams that are specifically prefabricated for such marks might be a superior theory as they target the cells beneath the surface of the skin. This way, there is a superior chance that the underlying scars are removed and younger cells will be ready to replace older ones that occupy the scar.
Creams might be the easiest way to get rid of these marks, but they are not the most effective. Laser treatment is one of the most effective as it involves burning away of the scar tissue left behind on the skin. This ensures that the scar is absolutely removed and your body will be left to regenerate new skin cells to fill in the space left behind by the scar.
Microdermabrasion and cosmetic surgeries are also effective ways of absolutely removing any scar. Similar to laser treatment, these two procedures also work by absolutely removing the scar. Microdermabrasion uses mechanical or chemical means to remove the scar, while cosmetic surgery also takes out the scar tissue left behind similar to laser treatments.
Aside from these costly methods of scar removal, there are also cheaper home remedies that you can try to get rid of these annoying scars. The use of cocoa butter is one of the more favourite home remedies used. Application of Vitamin A and Vitamin E gels on the skin is also a common practice. Massaging might also be a good way to prevent scars from forming as this can already break down scar tissue while it is still forming.
Stretch marks might be hard to prevent but there are still ways that you can use to get rid of those that have already formed on your skin. The more costly procedures are more effective in absolutely getting rid of scars, while the cheaper methods might lighten your scars making them quite invisible.
